Landscape Wall Hanging

This wall hanging was based off of principles I learned in a class called Landscape 101 by Linda Schmidt. I used a variety of batik fabrics to create a simple landscape wall hanging. To make the craggy mountain edges I actually burned the edges of the fabric to create ragged edges. To make the water I added various layers of fabrics to get a variety of shimmers, including chiffon and angelina. To make the tree I cut several small pieces of batik fabric to look like clumps of leaves, sandwiched them between two pieces of water soluble stabilizer in a way that looked like leaves, and then stitched over them with a free motion quilting foot and metallic thread in the bobbin to create a tree trunk.
