Poppy Wall Hanging
This wall hanging was based off of the pattern One Poppy - Art Quilt Pattern by Lenore Crawford. The original pattern called for fusing pieces of cotton fabric in place to create the shape of the poppy, and using a small amount of embroidery to accent the center of the flower. Instead I chose to add in additional materials for more texture. I added beads that look like seeds, bits of fuzzy yarn that look like poppy stems, and brightly dyed silk cocoons that look like poppy flower buds. After that I added more texture and depth of color by shading some areas of the poppy using oil pastels. Finally I used decorative stitching on the stem to give the appearance of more texture and depth.
