Reflections on motherhood
This image was created in Adobe Photoshop by combining together several different images. I took all of the images with my Canon EOS 90D DSLR camera with a Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM lens. I used the 10 second timer and a tripod, which meant that I had to set up the rough shot and then race back in frame each time. Using the tripod and similar settings each time allowed me to combine the images into one chaotic image with repeated subjects, but the edges looked unrealistic at several of the points where images joined together. To take attention away from the strange joins, I decided to posterize the entire image, which created exaggerated lines along the entire image.
This image conveys the feeling of chaos that many parents with young children are familiar with, and also how I felt pulled in many different directions trying to pursue art courses while looking after my young children. I included a self-portrait drawing as the only image of me actually looking at the viewer, because I prefer to show myself to the world through my art.
